Toronto, July 17, 2009 - We Care Home Health Services has been recognized as a Laureate by the Computerworld Honors Program. This year’s Honorees were commemorated during the 21st Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening on June 1, 2009 in Washington, D.C.For over two decades, Computerworld Honors has acknowledged those individuals and organization that have used information technology to benefit society.
We Care was recognized for its Re-ACT program, a home monitoring system that accurately measures up to six vital signs of individuals in their homes and transmits the results to a remote nursing station for monitoring. This allows a health care professional to ensure readings are within prescribed limits and allows them to intervene when appropriate.Current results of the program show that clients on the system experience fewer Emergency Room visits, have higher medication compliance and are less likely to be admitted to hospital. As our populations continue to age, and experience increased chronic diseases, Re-Act will allow our health care system to better utilize the scare nursing resources while giving individuals more control over their health.
John Schram, President and CEO of We Care says, “to be recognized by the 2009 Computerworld Honors Program validates our significant investment in time and money to develop our technology. We have implemented technologies that support our Vision to be a leader in community care. Our investments have allowed us to be more efficient and cost effective, brining us closer to our clients. We know our technology investments have and will continue to improve our quality of care.”
The Computerworld Honor Program unites Chairpersons and CEOs of the world’s foremost technology companies to recognize the most outstanding user achievements in technology each year.
“Each year, the Computerworld Honors Program seeks to recognize organization, from a variety of sectors, for their ongoing efforts to utilize technology in order to benefit society,” said Ron Milton, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation and Executive Vice President of Computerworld. We are proudto provide a platform to publicly acknowledge these contributions.”
