The Hearing Foundation of Canada Announces New Board and Advisory Council Members

Toronto, July 7, 2010 - The Hearing Foundation of Canada (THFC) announces the appointment of a new Chair, Board of Directors, Member and Advisory Council Member.

“I am thrilled that John Pepperell is taking over the role of Chairman, Board of Directors and that Dr. Peter Alberti, and Dr. Amit Monga will join the Board and Advisory Council, respectively.As we look to expand our programs in communities across Canada, our new members will play a key role in ensuring the success of our strategic advancement,” said Aubrey LeBlanc, Past Chair, Board of Directors, THFC.“Attracting visionary leaders who embrace our message as we evolve and continue to grow is very important to us.”

John Pepperell – John Pepperell recently retired after an extensive career at senior levels in investment research and investment portfolio management in Canada. He has been a board director for many years in the business, community and environment fields.

Dr. Peter Alberti – Peter Alberti is probably best known to Canadians in the auditory sciences through his role as chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Toronto from 1982 to 1992.Dr. Alberti was appointed a visiting professor at the National University of Singapore until 2003.He has served as president of the Canadian Otolaryngological Society and on the executive board of Hearing International. He served as secretary-general and is today a counselor to the International Federation of Otolaryngological Societies (IFOS), and is an advisor on the prevention of hearing loss with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dr. Amit Monga – Amit Monga is an active angel investor who has previously worked as an investment banker, venture capitalist and has successfully founded and sold a US based, on-demand software company.He currently holds an Executive Professor of Finance appointment at the School of Business, University of Alberta, and is also the Chairman & Managing Director of Sarapoint Global Ltd., an international advisory firm that assists private and public companies with capital markets positioning and the execution of growth strategies.

The Hearing Foundation of Canada (THFC) is committed to eliminating the devastating effects of hearing loss on the quality of life of Canadians, particularly youth, by promoting prevention, early diagnosis, leading-edge medical research and successful intervention. THFC has developed numerous programs that seek to improve the hearing health of Canadians, in the areas of public education and medical research.
