Nurses around the world are being recognized for their commitment to health care during 2012 National Nursing Week. No more so than in Nunavut, where the territory's 163 nurses are on the front lines offering professional medical care to Nunavummiut.
During National Nursing week the Government of Nunavut annually presents Nursing Awards of Excellence in 3 areas - leadership, nursing practice and lifetime achievement. This year's Nursing Awards of Excellence recipients are: Robyne Ruff, Baker Lake, for nursing leadership, Sharon Hunting, Winnipeg, for lifetime achievement and Lisa Saxby, Rankin Inlet, for nursing practice.

I am proud of the commitment and quality of care that all our nurses give to Nunavummiut across this territory, says Nunavut's Health and Social Services Minister, Keith Peterson.National Nursing Week (May 7 to 13) coincides with International Nursing Day (May 12).
Nunavut’s nurses continue to provide a high standard of care in 25 health centres throughout Nunavut, as well as at Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqaluit.
